Elouise & Edward
My husband's parents, Edward John Esberger & Elouise Hill (daughter of Alma SHOWS Hill), met in New Orleans right after World War 2. After graduating from high school in Albany, LA, she had moved to New Orleans to live with her older sisters. He had been in the Navy all during the war & had just returned from action in the Pacific.
I'm so glad I asked about the wedding! I assumed they married in New Orleans , but it turned out that he had been transferred before the wedding date. She rode the train to Charleston, SC, where they were married on 12 Oct 1946. Who would think to look there for the marriage license of a man raised in Chicago & a woman from New Orleans?!!! Karen Esberger
