Felix Mathis
In 1892, Felix and Evaline Mathis family moved to a homestead
three and a half miles southeast of Thomas, Oklahoma. The family
farmed and operated a post office known as Cora Post Office, ran a
grocery store, and operated a blacksmith shop. Felix was an ordained
Baptist minister who held religious services, performed wedding
ceremonies and conducted funerals over a wide area.
In 1906, the family moved to Hemphill County to a place known as
Eller Flats. They farmed the land where Mrs. Floyd Parks now
resides. Felix and Evaline Mathis are buried at Eller Flats Cemetery
now known as Prairie Dell Cemetery. This cemetery is located on a
hill overlooking the farm land which was farmed by Felix and
Evaline.
Eller Flat Cemetery located east part of Hemphill Co, TX. The 13th
child of Felix & Evaline was a baby boy buried at Mt. Oliver
Cemetery, Thomas, OK.
